Can you help me with this brain teaser?

You saw a shirt for $97. You didn't have the cash so you borrowed $50 from your dad and $50 from your mom. $50+$50=$100. You bought the shirt and had $3 change. You gave your dad $1 and your mom $1 and kept $1 for yourself. Now you owe $49 to your mom and $49 to your dad.

$49 + $49=$98. Plus your $1= $99. Where's the other $1?

The wording of the teaser is meant to confuse you. There is no missing dollar.

You started off with 0$ your mom gave you 50 and your dad 50

    50+50+0=100

The shirt cost 97$ you gave your mom 1 and your dad 1 and you kept 1

    97+1+1+1 = 100
