I just found out I have HPV.. can you die from it?

I'm a 16 year old girl and I had a pap smear done a few days ago and my doctor just told me I had it, she said I have cancer cells in there. Does that mean I might die? I don't know anything about this.. any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, could I have passed it onto my boyfriend? Is there any symptoms of it?

Update:

I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I have a sore throat and when I pee, at the end of my pee it hurts, and when I push on my uterus it feels full even after I pee.

You are not going to die, go get a daily vitamin and Golden Seal Extract (it is an all natural vitamin that boosts your immune system) you body will fight it off. Even though it is the "high risk" it WILL go away. Chances are your boyfriend gave it to you, there is no test for men. typically the infection will go away within a few months. You are not alone, and don't be freaked out. Having this virus does not determine who you are and will not stick with you forever. I was diagnosed with HPV when I was 19, and it was gone in 4 months after that... Yes it could cause cancer BUT its not as common as you would think but your doctor must tell you that it can cause cancer... Hope this helps. Its really not a big deal. 80 percent of women get it at some point in their life.

  • Nope , you will not..and if you did so what.. boys have no issues . He prob gave it to you . 80% women have it and it will clear on its own like mines did.. lucky you didn't get the wart type
