    Let the no of shirts to be sold to break even be x

    a) Cost = 535 + 4.50x

    Sales = 12x

    12x = 4.50x +535

    7.5x = 535

    x = 71.33

    ANSWER = 72 shirts

    b) 50 shirts sold means loss

    535 + 4.50*50 = 535 +225 = 760 $ = cost

    sales = 50 X 12 = $600

    Loss $160

    c) C = 535 + 4.50n

    1200 = 535 + 4.50n

    1200 -535 = 665 =4.50n

    n = 147.77 shirts

    ANSWER profit ( because break even is 72 shirts)
