I'm interested in becoming an army medic?

I'm interested in becoming a medic for the army. What are the requirements? What are their salaries? I am a single mother if this matters. My son lives with my mother already. I've been struggling working 2 jobs for years and I am tired of it. I'm hoping joining the army will lead to a better life. Any information you can give me would be great.

Depends on if you have college and what rank you come in as. I'm an E-3 and I make about 1300 a month after taxes. You will get way more than that if you have dependents though. They give you extra pay referred to as BAH. Not to mention that you get cheap/free food, either free housing, or they give you around 900 - 1200 extra dollars a month for housing. Access to free health, life, and dental insurance for you and all of your dependents plus access to so many other amazing resources.

I just graduated training as a medic (68W) about 2 and a half months ago. You get EMT certified during training, plus some of the best emrgency medical training in the world. Ever since I graduated I've been working in a hospital, I see about 8-10 patients a day, get their vitals do a few exams, then present what I found to the doctor. The doctor then goes back in the room with me and I get to learn what he does so that I can get good training from it.

It seems like the biggest downside for someone in your position would be the possibility of being deployed. Obviously your kids could not come with you, but, you get a lot of money on deployments and a lot of well-deserved respect coming back, especially as a medic.
