Boiling Shrimp...tell me how you do it.?

Everyone says leave the shell on the shrimp to boil it. But how does the good seafood boil seasoning get ON the shrimp if it's covered in the shell?? Also to get rid of that nasty digestive track vein you have to peel them to clean that. Now there's no shell so what is best in your opinion? thanks

If you leave the shell on it helps keep the spices locked in, especially if your the type to put it on ice after boiling which to me keeps the flavor. The shrimp is kinda opened up where their head has been removed, it also comes in from their pores.

If you do not like the track you can find places that purge for you, it may be hard to find someone depending where you live. If you can move past that nasty feature it will come out easily if you just pull it out after shelling to eat it. I've put a link if you wish to clean your shrimp yourself. It may boil differently. I personally don't mind the track and just pull it out or if good enough don't worry with it, it shouldn't hurt you. But don't forget it goes bad after 1 to 2 days depending on how you store it.

    I hope I helped some. ^^

I prefer to steam the shrimp than boiling it because you will remove the sweetness and flavor of the shrimp in the boiling water unlike steaming it. It depends how you want your shrimp done, if you are eating like cocktail shrimp, then you shelled it without any seasonings and then eat it with a cocktail sauce or the chinese, seasoned soy sauce. This way you can savor the flavor, texture, sweetness of the shrimp. If you want to deep fried, even saute, leave the shell on. If you want to make shrimp bisque, then boiled the shells etc. To get rid of the digestive track from the back of the shrimp, remove the shell, usually just the body part living the head and the tail intact and with a tooth pick/needle, just pull out the long green nasty stuff from the back of the shrimp or for bigger sized shrimp even lobster, just make a slit on the back of the crustacean, then wash away the innards *

I always shell them first and butterfly them (uncooked)

It they are cooked I peal them and heat.

I have jet to be anle the taste the poop tube

Apparently it can be pulled out from the tail end.

I would omly bother with it would be with the larger ones when there aren't as many to do.
