Bike just went dead when I was riding it.?

I've been a Biker for 20 years, but this is the first time this has happened to me. Bike was running well, enough Gas, full Battery charge. Then as I rode along it just went dead, all electrics off. I thought the fuses had blown. But after being stopped for 5 minutes, the lights started coming back on. Next day all lights working again, starter motor working (but engine would not start), frankly am mystified. The Bike is a ten year old Ninja 600. The Bike is in the repair shop now, but any advice I could give the Mechanic Guys would be appreciated. The Mechanic Guys suspect faulty Key Lock switch, but I don't see how that could almost drain the battery, the battery was drained like from a short.

I'd suspect a poor connection in the battery area - remove all the heavy cables & clean the ends & where they connect. The fault is probably in the earth strap, maybe something as simple as bolt worked loose

well the battery wasn't drained if the lights were working and if it started right up afterwards i suspect your mechanic is correct, the key system probably just disconnected or shorted and the bike didn't get the signal that the key was in the "on" position.

My '84 ZN1300 Kaw was known for having the ignition switch and kill switch fail. The ignition switch was already replaced when I bought it and I had to remove the switch and clean it several years ago as well.
