The officer noticed that your car wasn't street legal due to the excessive tint. He gave you a ticket, on the bottom of the ticket you signed a solemn oath to appear in court or pay the fine in the mail. If you break your oath there will be consequences. In my area, the fine would be increased to the maximum allowed by law, interest and penalties would be added. Your driver's license would be suspended.
Fortunately, the court has a procedure you can follow to extend your court date. You just go down 14 days or more in advance and fill out a form. This gives them time to reschedule the officer's overtime shift, saving you even more money. If you refused to follow the procedure, you could probably show up when the court opens and pay your fine. you also might need to bring proof that you peeled off the illegal tint. One other alternative is to ask your parent or guardian to pay the fine for you and bring the proof that the car has been made street legal.

Plead for mercy!!!! The worst thing the Cort likes is a no show. Don't miss the second date. Tell the truth. Ask if you can pay the fine in parts over time. In some states the clerk will handle this in others you need to ask the judge and he will direct the clerk. I thought California was a liberal paradise that is a heck of a steep fine. Ouch!

Contact the court for help. You can't just not show up for court and have the judge be like "oh well, we can just re-schedule it" No. They will issue a warrant for your arrest. You shouldn't have waited until the last minute to take care of this.

If you don't show for court its pretty harmless. They will just make another time especially if you ring them & tell the Clark of courts there's no way your missing your exams & when you do re appear the judge will understand. So go to school. Better still get your principal to explain it before 10:30 am that day. You can't get in trouble at school for something you did out of school hrs.
