the majority tribe of the Hutu saw the Tutsi as a lower form of people and blamed them for all the ills in the country, this had been building up and was used as a political weapon to rally the Hutu majority, much like the Jews were used as a scapegoat by Nazi Germany, the spark that lead to the genocide occurred when a plane carrying President Habyarimana ( a Hutu) was shot down, the blame was put firmly in the Tutsi by those who wanted to escalate the political oppression of these people. As soon as the plane was shot down, Government used the media to air the message that the Tutsi were attacking Hutu and encouraged the people to defend themselves by killing Tutsis where ever they found them. This was a political sub-plot and lead to the mass murder of any Tutsi found by vigilantly gangs orchestrated by Government and Army officials. What happened was the mass murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent people and mass hysteria leading to a civil war which the Tutsi dominated RPf won. The consequences were and still are the finally expelled Hutu leaders of this horrific humanitarian crime fled to northern Congo where even today they wage a campaign of terror not only across the border into Rwanda but also within Congo.

Nothing of worth in Rwanda and funding for a peace mission was no longer preferred among the many U.S. Public or would not if the war went on to long if UN Forces fought in Rwanda. There may be some thing to factor out although which is if U.S. Citizens had put an finish to such problems The U.S. Had through The war Of Agression determination made at Nuremberg which might additionally practice to others plus UN Authority things would have been extraordinary. The opposite factor was plain U.S. Citizens weren't concerned . Propaganda is one other thing to recollect as intervention seeing that Colonial occasions and T has worn the cloak of Humanitarian Intervention and so had The Invasion Of China by using Japan andso this could yet another oneof an extra sor tthrough The UN. No person had ever steered Africans have a Humanitarian Intervention in the USAA. U.S. Residents plus different citizens in member international locations of The UN could have come forth but finally the quandary wouldn't have been exceptional.

During the Colonial period, Belgium maintained a policy of 'divide and rule' in Rwanda. The only problem is - Rwanda has only one tribe. So the Belgium's created two tribes. One called Hutu (which means digger or tiller of land) and Tutsi (which is a corruption of their word for cattle keeper).

The Belguims insighted hatred between the two artificially created groups and proceeded to 'divide and rule'

Upon independence the French Government supported this policy and so ensured its influence and kept Rwanda a 'francophone' country. The Hutu people were encouraged to attack the Tutsi over a 10 year period until eventually the genocide was planned, organized and executed with French support. I have seen photos of French paratroopers escorting the perpetrators to their next murder site.

The Tutsi eventually formed an army and attacked the murderers and drove them out. In Rwanda you can no longer be identified as Hutu or Tutsi, these names have been erased. The Hutu and Tutsi are indistinguishable in language, accent, physical features, by names, regions etc. They are the same people

The murderers remain in Congo under French and Congo protection. Some were taken to court, but many escaped.

It was a great tragedy in the history of the region.

The Tutsi and Hutu were the main belingerents.

THey speak basically the same language (kinyarwanda), but they hated each other.
