Auto Transmission slipping in 3rd gear?

This is an older car 92 Buick Roadmaster. It shifts very smooth from all the gears. Just when it goes into 3rd gear the rpms go up, and you can feel it trying to catch, but its not catching, then it will shift into 4th (OD). 195,800 miles on the original transmission.

Is it alright to drive it? Consequences, and How Long do you think it will keep working?

Make sure the vacuum line (if it has one) didn't come loose. On older GM cars if the vacuum line comes loose it will not fully shift into 3rd. Double check that and the fluid level.
