Why do Americans hate their country so much?

I mean, I've read lots of online comments, and there seems to be LOTS of self-hating Americans for some reason. Personally, I feel that if you live in the U.S. and if you've chosen your leaders, you shouldn't be complaining about it endlessly, and should perhaps consider other nations if you feel so discontent.

I mean, lots of young Chinese dislike the Communist government, but deep down side, most Chinese still love their country.

America sucks a lot. It's not all bad but our economy is structured to encourage, reward and promote all our worst people so our economy is extremely abusive and oppressive.

We don't hate our country, its the fact our government is not doing anything about our immigrant problem, and some Catholic politicians are trying to reverse abortion laws, defining marriage between a man and a women etc..also the fact they are allowing huge corporations to flee to other countries to avoid tax. Americans are patriotic and love our country.@Josef, really we have the lowest minimum pay? Where you get you resources from? You get about 10 dollars an hour working at McDonald's, and usually for kids. America still.has one of the best economies, we export the most in grain, corn, wheat, rice, beef to the world. We have the highest paying sports, MLB, NBA,NFL,Golf. We have the highest paying doctors, lawyers, politicians, engineers, you can become a millionaire over night, and we are home to the most millionaires,. We are high-tech and everycity is modernized, you can find cheaper homes near canada, but no one wants to live there. You go to places like California and your home will be at least a half a million, or up. Same in new York. We have Hollywood and animation, Disneyland and world, countless zoos, universities,...oh yes poor Americans, that's why we have an immigration problem because everyone wants to live here not Canada.

I think the answer can be explained by the nature of white people and the tone they set. They have a tendency to hate their own countries and their own race. The comments here are fairly typical of any western-style democracy.

I would be surprised if an asian democracy like japan or south korea had people express themselves in the same manner as the citizens in these western countries do.

I don`t believe it`s the hate of country that`s taking place. If you notice, most of the discontent is with their fellow citizens that belong to a different political team than theirs. If a civil war was to break out, it would be to win the rights to ruling the country their way permanently.

I believe it is not that they hate the country, but hate what the politics are doing. The minimum wage is lower than most countries, healthcare is not free and is extremely expensive. ( $600 to get a tooth out). Also there is not much job opportunities that can provide for a family. Tuition for secondary schooling is extremely expensive. All of this combine= one unhappy american if they are in working class.

Now--lets think about those who are happy.

Those who work very good jobs enjoy the benefits of cheap real estate, cheap clothes, cheap employment payment, and even better cheap food.

Example: A house that looks amazing in U.S. and in a good location costs about 200k in the US in Canada it cost 350k +. If you have the money to invest, its an easy investment for the future.

I love my country but I hate my government. I didn't vote for the president in office, in fact I voted third party. I voted third party in my state's election too.

Not the people but more of the leaders themselves

I don't hate the country. I hate what people are doing to it, Turning it into a place of hate and rule over people struggling and blaming them.

It's not the country it's the people that are supposedly running it.

Loving our country does NOT mean we have to love our elected officials. Especially when those elected officials appear to NOT be doing the job we elected them to do, and are wasting our tax dollars.
