Why can't my desktop connect to my wifi network?

My laptop (the one I am on right now) and 4 other computers are all able to connect to my wifi home network.

My desktop, however, cannot. My wireless USB adapter can detect the signal, but when I put in the correct passcode, I just get a message saying "Can't connect to this network".

Here are some specifics:

-We are using AT&T U-verse

-My desktop is Windows 8, all the other computers are Windows 7 or Vista.

-My wireless USB adapter is Belkin N750 DB.

Update:

My network uses wireless-G and has the security type WPA2-Personal. The signal strength is strong (full bars).

@Jon B

Thanks for responding. I have tried both methods and still cannot connect. I checked the device manager and it said the adapter is working properly. Do you think there is some compatibility issue with the the network and Windows 8?

Windows 8 in my opinion is very over managing. It has so many hidden operators that you first have to find and then instruct on how to connect. I did find this series of answers that might help:

To fix this issue with belkin adaptor you can follow these steps:

Method 1: Run the network troubleshooter to check for any Internet connectivity issues.

    a. Press Windows key + W to search Settings.

    b. Type “Troubleshoot” without quotes and click on Troubleshooting.

    c. In the new windows select network and internet

    d. In the list of options, click on Network adaptors, Click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Method 2: You may also try to uninstall any security software filter/protocol in the Wireless Adapter properties.

    a) Press “ windows + R “ key to open run window

    b) In the search filed type control to open control panel

    c) In the search box, type adapter, and then, under Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections.

    d) Right-click your wireless adapter and then click Properties. If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    e) From the list under ‘This connection uses the following items select any security software filter/protocol’ and click Uninstall.

    f) Click OK and try enabling the wireless again
