what would you recomend for a new router?
i have about id say 15 devices that need to be hooked up to it. my dir 655 just went caput after 6 years. i don't need a ac router that is for sure but im looking into less than 120$ before taxes maybe as high as 140$ but that would be my limit. i do not like linksys routers and refuse to buy them.
this is the one im thinking of getting http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/d-li%E2%80%A6

A NetGear N750 gets high reviews and is on sale at OfficeMax for US$110. I'll assume most of those 15 devices access it via wifi. If they actually are connected by ethernet cable, then you obviously need a hefty switch with at least 15 ports. You should probably ensure that it offers plenty of QoS options so that you have control of those 15 users, making sure nobody hogs the bandwidth.
(FWIW, Netgear is buying the entire Linksys business from Cisco.)

I got a NetGear and I've been happy with it. It does a good job with games and other online stuff like music, video streaming and so on. The one thing I love about mine is I have a usb external hard drive and you are able to plug it into router and then the drive acts like a wireless drive that can be shared with other computers on the network so its great I have my movies, music, and pictures on it and everyone in the house can use it when they want even save to it via the wireless connection. Mine is the NetGear WDN3400 and I think it cost me 60.00 at staples.
