I realise that this may get under some people's "skin".. but.. Have you ever wondered how much?

I'M WITH U COMPLETELY. I PUT THIS IN A QUESTION A FEW WEEKS BACK, BUT THIS HAD SUCH AN IMPACT ON ME THAT IT'S WORTH REPEATING. I THINK I'M STRUGGLING FINANCIALLY AT THE MOMENT, THINGS LIKE THIS REALLY OPEN MY EYES. I WAS AT A CHRISTIAN EVENT & THE HEAD OF A WORLDWIDE CHARITY GAVE US A TALK & TOLD US BOUT WHAT DROVE HIM.

He spent most of his childhood in Africa, but his family moved back to the USA when he was 15. He told us how he'd stood outside a grocery store gaping at the food & then he saw a pharmacy. He sat down, in a street in New York & wept. Over the course of the 12yrs, he'd seen 1/2 his friends die, either from mal-nutrition or illness.

Thought I would throw my hat in the ring by saying, the reason they spend so much on cosmetic surgery is the doctors charge way too much, and they wouldn't need cosmetic surgery if society wasn't so judgmental on how people look. We as a society have created this problem along with many others, and when you talk about how much you have given and boast about it, you have just got your reward as Christianity teaches, so no I would not follow in your footsteps, that is sin according to the Bible. On a reality sense I can tell if the rich or well to do helped the poor and needy, we would all just be mediocre, and that's just like communism, something I'm not to crazy about, but wait you didn't say the poor would have to work we would just give it to them and help them out. I think we already do this, its called social assistance and our taxes cover that cost along with producing jobs for social workers. So we are already giving to the poor, we just are not boasting about the good we are doing. Real charity comes from the heart and is not measured by the media and what others think, it is done in secret so you do not humiliate the needy or crown the giver.

Well this will DEFINITELY get under some peoples skin, but Jesus said (paraphrased) you'll always have the poor with you, when Judas chastised Mary for using an expensive perfume on his feet!

Yes that money would help the recipients, but won't eliminate "poor."

Let me ask you this, Could you not wear the same shoes for two years and give the money you paid for new shoes to the poor? Could you eat beans and give the money you spent on steaks to the poor?

Could you read a book from the library, and save the cost of a movie ticket, popcorn and soda? (that would feed a family of four for a week!).

In reality, there are many things (including cosmetic surgery) people can do with out. The money should be spent as desired by who earned it.

You do it first. You give up whatever vanities you have and give it to the poor instead. We tried that way back in the sixties. They consumed the help in the bat of an eye and made more kids just as fast. Now the problem is so far beyond help that it is going to take more than just the sacrifice of vanity. Sorry, but how far under the skin do you want to get? Let's go right to the bone.

No offense to woman, but cosmetic surgery is making many, especially

after they put on tight dresses and wear 5-6" heels >>> well, look like

prostitutes of right out of a porn mag or internet pornographsy I used to

be addicted to. Why do women want to look like the very thing guys

are so addicted to it has gotten out of control.

It's a war for the heart, and both men and women are going about it the

wrong way. You know who loses the most : Children. Lost in the shuffle

of divorce and adults own self-aborbtion on "How I look."

You are 100% correct. Think how much money could help others......it is

not even funny. There is no excuse for this.

(by the way.....my bros said one part of the business that is also booming is breast reduction, as many women do claim either back problems or they realize they went to far with two huge balloons to carry just to have a bunch of guys wanting to masturbate to her,

and tattoo removal: through the roof after many realize the mistakes of plastering their bodies with ink.

This question asks us to draw a line. Cosmetics, in its entire definition, focus on 99% of our vanity. Why stop at the vanity of face lifts. I certainly have seen a many make-up jobs that money would have been much better spent on helping those in need.

Some people literally spend millions on their appearance. There is nothing wrong with wanting to look decent, but some people take it way too far, obsess over it constantly and spend so much money that could indeed be used much more wisely.

Probably in the billions!!! I can't believe how vain people are. There is so much that needs to be done in the world but people think it's more important to have a tight face, lifted butts, injected lips, huge boobs. I just don't understand it.

I think we all new that but will give a star. I like the blue ribbon.

I think the pro ball players are paid WAY too much . Their money should be cut in half , even cut in half , STILL leaves them millionaires . Take the cut and help the poor , or take the cut and raise minimum wage , by $8 an hour . One can STILL barely survive if they did that ...
