Joining the British Army?

I am looking to join the British Armed Forces as Infantry and I have tried one of the local recruitment offices and they said to come back in 2016 when my unspent criminal conviction ends, it is a charge of assault of policeman (I spat on him when drunk stupidly) I was wondering If I tried another recruitment office what the chances are of joining and if it really is just up to the guy at the office to decide whether I can join or not. I have heard of some people being accepted with way more convictions and of similar convictions to mine.

If there is no chance at all, does the same rules apply to the Territorial Army?

Update:

I am intending on showing my convictions and being honest, I'm just wondering if any other recruitment office in my area might accept me on an off chance because its upto the recruiter and I've heard people joining with convictions and unspent convictions.

Update 2:

Yeah its scummy spitting on him but what he done to me was also scummy but yeah, your ignorance over the internet is truly remarkable.

You will still have to reveal that conviction so they will say the same thing.

Basically come back in 2016, if you chance your arm at another office they will find out as all applications are linked on a database these days. No it isn't really up to the 'guy' in the office, those are guidelines that are laid down to him by HQ Recruiting Group, he is merely following him. However you are allowed to enlist with no more than two unspent convictions, provided you have no other convictions and this was the sole thing you were charged for then you should have met the eligibility criteria.

You can try, however its unlikely. You will have to reveal your conviction, if you don't and they find out later then you're done for. Until the criminal conviction ends I doubt any recruitment office will accept you, the army doesn't let in everyone like they used to, especially the kind that are charged with assaulting police.

Its done on a case by case basis, get proof of your conviction, as much detail as possible and take it with you. People do get in with unspent convictions, but like I said it all depends on what they did and when...

I've never heard of anyone spitting at a policeman, so can't give you any help with that one, it's probably worth a try though.
