Why do people hate heavy metal?

Meat Train is so confusing...He spends half of his time bashing scene music fans and the other half bashing metal fans... ;)

Many people hate metal because they never gave it a chance. Metal songs usually aren't "catchy". When I get a new album, it takes a few listens before it really grows on me.

Some people that hate metal are too brainwashed by the media to enjoy anything outside of pop, rap, and generic pop-punk bands (A Day To Remember, for example).

Then there are those that have given metal a chance and can honestly say that they hate metal because it is simply not their taste.

Heavy metal does not have screaming. Heavy metal is music like Iron Maidon and Metallica. Many people do not realise that "metal" has a very wide range, with many sub-genres.

When I was younger I hated metal because I couldn't stand the way they sang and the guitars. Right now I enjoy some heavy metal. I don't like that much heavy metal because I usually get bored by most of it.

I love heavy metal and I think people just have their own taste in music

Heavy Metal like Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, or Dio doesn't have harsh vocals. You're probably talking about metalcore, deathcore, black metal, death metal, or grindcore which do have harsh vocals.

Heavy metal doesn't have harsh vocals, subgenres like death metal, black metal, grindcore, and metalcore/deathcore (I'm not very fond of the core genres, except for grindcore, but they are metal none-the-less) have harsh vocals. In addition, who cares what others think, listen to what you like.

Heavy Metal doesn't have screaming, only Metalcore/Deathcore have that.

Some think it is all satanic and or think it is an annoying wall of noise.

Because they're stupid and they listen POP (****)!!

it could give some people headaches and they just prefer smooth clear voices
