Almost turning 21 years old and never had a job?
I'm almost turning 21 and I've never had a job.
I'm so frustrated. I don't know what to do. I'm a high school dropout, not long ago I received my GED, and now, I have no idea what I'm going to do next. I've isolated myself from the world. I have no friends, I have social anxiety and I've disappointed my parents.
I really want to turn my life around and do something for once. I want to work; experience what my parents go through everyday to make ends meet, supporting me.
My question is, what can I do? How can I start?
I also have no resume, so basically no previous job experience, reference to put down. Am I screwed?

I am in the same boat, I didn't get my first job until I was about 20. I'm 36 now and still not sure what I want to do with my life. I don't have many friends either mostly because of the hours that I work.
Start volunteering, get out there and try to start making a few friends.
Start with going to career centers or employment centers, they can help you build a resume and find a job.
Try to find some thing you're passionate about and or do some assessment tests to figure out what type of career would suit you.
Do get some post secondary education, some schools offer internships or co operative placements so you can get experience in some thing you want to do. Volunteering and co operative work placements can help you build references and a resume.

No, you start by making a resume and everyone has something to put on a resume. See if there is a free job help cnetre in your area and go there for help to get started. In the meantime you can volunteer somewhere and get some more experience that way. Check out youtube videos for job search tips and read online for job search tips etc. good luck, you can do this.

Okay good sir, first of all don't be so hard on yourself especially if you live in the U.S. and now i'm going to list several ideas for you that have worked out for my friends and myself at a point in my life.
1. college, okay if you are below the poverty line(like i am and was) FAFSA will pay completely for your community college experience :D, although if you hate education and all that, this may not be for you.
2. You could always look up online for Job Finding services, where I live there is one called man power that will help find and place you in a temp job for possible hiring.
3. You could go out and apply at every minimum wage paying place within your means of travel till they hire you.
In the end your life is your choice and don't be so hard on yourself, I've seen straight A students ****** over by this world. Never let it get you done and never let it make you give up.

there is nothing wrong with it. The only Issue is see is that females do not call older males "cougars" and "dilfs" and "fine wine". They call them perverts and predators and letches and DOMS etc. That means every young guy with an older woman will eventually become an older guy and if his girlfriends are young..... women are going to stab him in the back and call him a creeper and tell his young lover to dump and avoid him on answers.yahoo. Women call the boy toys of 1980 "perverts" and DOM's all the time for dating young women. That is what makes older women ugly and why older woman younger male will never be a marital norm. It will always be like interracial couples. Its An alternate lifestyle (but it will never even be as successful as interracial is). That is the main reason I would never date someone older than me. I dont want a cougar. I want to BE one. I dont want to become 40 with a 51 year old wife when I can become 40 with a 30 year old wife 21 yaers younger than the older wife. Seriously. My brain does that math. (and his will eventually too). Then the guys my age who married women older than them are going to be looking at my wife going "yum" and I'm going to have to get out a can of whoopass. But, you cant really compare older woman younger male with older male younger female. The relationships are very different. Older woman younger male is basically a relationship between a woman with limited child bearing capabilities trying to create a long term relationship with someone who might want 5 kids and who has little money since a 21 year old guy has no career yet. (studies show that women divorce males who earn less money than them at high rates. So "househusband" isnt a very wise role for a male to take ). Older man younger woman is extremely different. That is a proven relationship between a financially secure male and a very fertile female that has worked for 10000s of years. My mom was in her 20's when she married my dad (he was in his 40's). She gave him a lot of kids and a huge close family. Something an older woman can't do for a person younger than them. Even my mom agrees that older man younger woman is words apart from older woman younger guy in terms of longevity and workability and structure. Is it taboo? Age gaps wont be taboo until he turns 33 and chases a 21 year old. Then older women will call him a perv and he will regret having given one day of his life to you.

First of all you must not think like that. There is say ' Never say its too late'.
and to my personal justification it is the right time to start your career.
You are a graduate and its a good news.
So dont lose your hope. You try and i am sure you will get rid of all disappointments.
All the best.

Your story is just like mine. I have social anxiety too, but it has been going away recently after I tried the Linden Method online course. It's a great program i really reccommend you try it out.

To pad your resume you could do volunteer work while looking for a job. That will show employers that you're willing to do work.
