Where do you presume the INVISIBLE parentheses are, and what answer was given on line??
Do you know how to multiply by 3?? (more specifically, 1/3)???
when the pattern appears to be decreasing fractions (at least in absolute value terms) how can you even think the answer is a large whole number?? (but you were sort of on the right track, just wrong "side" and direction)
oh, heck, I am feeling charitable.
a(n) = (1/2) * (-1/3)^(n-1) so ... a(8) = .5*(-1/3)^7 = 05*(-1/2187) = -1/4374
