Ideas for a tragic love poem?
I want to write a series of tragic love poems with the main characters Rea-Lee and Alonzo. I just don't have any tragic ideas yet. I would appreciate any ideas.

they live together. He has to go off to the army. She has an affair. He comes back on leave early, arrives at night, and catches her making love to the new man. In a fit of rage, he murders hem both with his knife. Then, in fits of remorse and anguish for killing his one true love, he commits suicide.
Does this help? Oh, and the names don't sound very poetic. Come n, Rea-lee = really and Alonzo = Alone. A six year old could spot that, and it makes the poem way too tacky.

Death is always a common tragedy between lovers, not unless you want to be more original, or have an original way of dying. You can have a lover's leap because one of them was a Jew who's parents didn't want them marrying a Christian.
Or write about twisted irony, like Romeo and Juliet, with allusions to that. A woman wants a particular flower that she believes will make the love between her and her lover last forever. So when her lover goes to pull it off a mountain side, he falls and dies.
Write something similar to a man who falls in love with a woman because of her beautiful hair, they marry and live in poverty. For Xmas she sells her hair to buy him a frame for his painting, and he sells his painting to buy her a comb.
