Do I Need a Separate Grill to Cook Fish On?

Because I have heard that once you cook fish in a pan or on a grill, all other foods will taste fishy afterwards; thus, a separate grill?

I have cooked fish on the grill a lot and it doesn't mess with the taste at all. Just make sure you clean your grill. A dirty grill makes things taste bad, not what was previously cooked in it.

By the way, when I grill fish, sometimes they are a little delicate. So instead of flipping and hoping they don't fall apart I bought a fish basket. It makes it a lot easier. It work for shish kabobs and those vegetarian burgers too.

Cook all the other food first. Fish doesn't need as high a heat as other foods.

I get a grill basket to cook fish in. That way I don't have to sacrifice to the bbq gods by having half the fish go through the grill. Just oil the basket, put the seasoned fish in, put the lid on and grill away. Turn once and no waste.

No, a well cleaned grill wil not have any residue on it from previous meals. The same is not true of deep frying, however, because fish will permeate the fryer oil and make subsequently cooked foods taste like fish.

  • No the heat burns that out. If you fry foods, a fishy taste usually lingers in the oil but not on a grill.

    Just use aluminum foil.

    What I do.

Place fish in center of foil. add onion, butter and orange juice, wrap tightly, poke a few holes in the top of foil, NOT to go through the bottom. Lay on grill and close lid and let the smoke work its magic. 12 -15 minutes and wahlah a scrumptious piece of fish.

Not at all, in fact all you have to do is cook the fish wrapped in foil, leave an opening on the top and just let it cook i do it all the time
