Employment and support allowance and studying?
Hi all!
Quick question, Im currently receiving Contribution based Employment and Support allowance, as I have a chronic illness, yet I wish to go to college. As I'll be taking an access course, which is under 16 hours a week.
Will this effect my ESA? I spoke to the DWP, and the didnt really know, but said if I wrote a letter with my 'national insurance number' I'd get an answer, but Im worried that the DWP will re-asses my benefit before I've even started college.
Can anyone tell me if college will effect my benefit?

Yes but you have to tell the benefits people and they will decide. You have to be unable to work due to illness / disability and continue to be for the duration of your course.
