Lower Sideband

Lower Sideband, one of the two sidebands produced by any AM transmitter. High efficiency transmitters only use one of the two, which is 6 times as efficient as a full dual sideband signal, while being equally capable of carrying the intelligence. It does take more specialized radios to do this, but it is worth it. There is no advantage of lower over upper or vice versa as long as both people are using the same sideband. Any form of Single Side Band, SSB, whether Lower or upper is not easily intelligible on a conventional AM radio.
