In love with a straight person?

I've known this guy for more than a year now and I'm sure I am in love with him. He's my friend, and he's straight. I'm in the closet. I know it's cliché, but I really do get a warm feeling when thinking about him and am extremely happy in his presence. Unfortunately, I probably can never be with him like that....

Can anyone offer advice?

I speak from experience, move on... If you let it get more serious (in your mind) it'll hurt you, it'll hurt a lot! I had the same problem, I fell in love with a straight friend in high school, he figured it out, and it ruined our friendship. We only talk "hi & bye" and very rarely. Don't even let him know how you feel, and avoid the subconscious flirting. Sadly, end it now before he figures it out and it may bother him. Be careful, falling in love with a straight person is the most hurtful thing that could happen relationship-wise to a gay person.

Move on. It's sad, but I'm afraid it's the only thing you can do when a person does not love you back.

I would tell you the same thing if he were gay and was already in a relationship with someone else.

If he's not bisexual then you have to deal with it. To help you move on just know that the feeling of love is probably puppy love. a crush, nothing big. You'll snap out of it even though it doesn't feel that way and things will change.

Source(s): The same person can fall in love 10-100 and more times before actually getting married. So you have options.

I know the feeling. It's very difficult to love someone but not be loved back.

I've been in this situation before, the best thing to do is to remember how much you treasure your friendship and realize that you're going to have to move on. There will be plenty of guys in the future. :)
