Just a brief glimpse, will you comment please?
Did ya ever sit in a garden, bendin, sniffin flowers
gigglin as they tickled, then have a butterfly
land on yer nose?
Ya might try it sometime?
Did ya ever dig up shells at the beach
waves so close but out of reach, warned
"Don't" even think about it."
but ya dared as if deaf?
Did ya ever bite in a apple that had fallen
and found half a worm, wiggling,
maybe both of ya squirmin
but ya just munched it anyway?
Did ya ever lose anybody so close
they were more than family, or just a friend
but held your soul.
Did ya cuss God?

You have given me (us) a brief glimpse what could be any-ones
life. To me, that is the metaphorical premise of the poem, not
the questions per se (cept last one), though your intent could
be to lead us to the last stanza >>>>yes, yes, yes ...and
finally the last of it.
I knew this was leading some where and your close, a single
sentence >>
"Did ya cuss God
_______
This is extremely introspective piece to say the least,
and one that I am thankful of His grace, However my
answer is unfortunately: Yes

Ne'er a butterfly
but one hummingbird.
Always eat an apple with a knife,
no chance of biting a worm.
Why cuss God for a nature event,
as for murder curse the one who did it.

I like the question form because it makes your readers think, not only about the poem, but about themselves. As for cussing God, no, because everyone has to die, it's the saddest fact of life and no matter how young or how old they are, death devastates those who love them.

There are no butterflies where I live. Only ravens and smoky streets. But to nurture my spirit I go to mountains and rivers deep in the nature to feel what you say. We all need to be wild in embrace of mother nature for we need it to remind ourselves we are still humans. Your piece is simply magnificent my friend.

Yes to all of the above. Losing someone close is painful and it is hard not to cuss God at such times but I think he understands and will always forgive us if we only ask. Great little poem my friend.
