Isn't the Turn or Burn Argument really a good recruiting tool for atheism?

I think so. Every time some zealot threatens me with damnation, it just reinforces my belief that Christianity is a fear-based religion and I drift further from it.

Yes, depending on the person being victimized by the Christian. Some people will do anything to make their lives better, whether they believe they're doing the right thing or not.

The irony is that it's not just a good recruiting tool for non-belief, it also refutes the very religion that the Christians are purportedly trying to advance. If a person just converts out of fear, that reveals that the basis for the religion isn't doing good for others, but doing good for oneself: it's selfishness, not selfLESSness.

Me too, but it seems to be remarkably effective for some people. Look at all the Pascal's Christians around here.

I think so. Anyone who believes God created heaven, earth, and hell cannot say he is all loving. And even if I believed that, if Hell is what is motivating me, I am not worshiping and loving God. I am cowering in fear and begging for my life!
