Will you read "Nearer Than The Moon" and c/c?

..........Nearer Than The Moon..........

.

.

Dictionaries, claiming to reveal,

Only highlight all that words can't feel.

E-K-G's, with monitoring lines,

Loss of love, within a heart, won't find.

Calenders, created to expire,

Show no markings, circles of desire

Happy friends, concerned with free advice,

Never wield a healing grief device.

Smallest gestures, large in meaning sent,

Yield a wave of feeling never spent.

Eyes of warmth keep watch when far away.

Selfish eyes grow cold in what they take.

Future hopes, with edges warped a bit,

Yield a join in truth that will not fit.

Losing love and grieving, some presume

Answers never nearer than The Moon.

Update:

NOTE:

(Well meaning words of advice).

Don't compose on this Question Page.

The original poem, Sea Of Storms, that was to

occupy this space, I decided not to use and develop

more fully after it "fermented" a few days.

I erased it and ad libbed this piece from those old standbys,

"loss of" or "unrequited love".

I was on the last line of the third stanza, thought I pressed Backspace,

but must have hit an F key above.

The intro page of a previous question popped up.

This replaced the tab on the task bar and the poem disappeared.

It was 3am when I exited to Notepad to start from scratch.

It's amazing how quickly the mind forgets when sleepy at 3am.

The version I lost was better in flow, for there were a few tie-in

phrases I couldn't remember.

Also, events over the past few weeks

have kept me away from my PC and Yap.

Though I've missed answering many if your posts,

I have followed up and am almost

finished reading (and enjoying) the compositi

I have missed some of your poems in my serving time and I am regretful about it. You are a wise poet. An adjective not every one can achieve. This poem hits the deepest parts of heart though the chosen words are not from the heart but from the brain (dictionaries, calendar). However the title is different and the poem change toward the end. It is just so great. you are a wise poet my friend. wise and smart. well done.

I give this 10 hugs! ma wrote one the other day that spoke to me on an intuitive level. Deep as if connected I felt her poem. I know this poem and wish I could have come up with the tools you used to deliver it- I love the way you chose the dictionary, calendar, well meaning and future hope. I really don't think some people will ever feel the realization of deeper understanding. This leaves me with remembering the grief that I am truly alone because nothing and no one can at times make it better. My spirituality is the only porthole and even then because I am not perfect, I doubt. I know I've "gone off" from where this lead but lol that is me. BTW- Love the last line so very much.

Sometimes if we look inside our selves at our own failings,we might see the answers to lost love or friendship, right at the end of our noses.

If we constantly lose then it is us who are not holding up our end of a relationship in trust and loyalty.

We have a responsibility, to do our part.

If we do not then we lose.

Your poem gives the impression that people do not realize this.

This is a good tribute to make so that people may see

that often answers are not so far away as we may think.

    Good work.

It's difficult for me to say "nice" Gene, but the piece is well done, and the points within the poem are taken. As my first read of the day, not knowing what I'd find, I was drawn in by the title then surprised a bit by the content and context, no bad on you at all.

    Hope flies thin

    on fragile wings

    when unsupported

    Be well this day.

I love poems contrasting opposites or extremes.

And "Never Nearer than the Moon" is an excellent line,

perfect title, and yes, sometimes, so true,

answers are never nearer than the moon.

Good morning, Gene, I'm two hours behind in my day,

    sorry for the short answer.

Love how your title is the last line of your piece, did I get the idea from you Gene? No! I've been doing it for years, WHY? because it feels like the right thing to do.

I enjoyed reading, you should post more often.

Gene, I found this to be one of the saddest poems

I've read for a long time. I suppose we must accept

that nothing, or no one is forever. We meet and get

involved with people for a reason, and when that

reason has been achieved, they often leave our lives...

    Gene Bourne

I just completed a nice, thorough answer, a few paragraphs long,

and get to last word and the window juts "zaps" and disappears.

I will try to come back and comment again...Bummer,

Very good poem. I see a tremendous loss, and a change on how

we might view life long friends.

    Congrats
