..Army or Marines.....?
I can't decide if I should joint the Army or Marines. I come from a family of 5 kids, and my 3 older brothers are all in the army. Me and my little sister are the only girls. But I can't decide. I always felt like I should join te army because that's mainly what my family is in, and also because I know more about it and am more familiar with it. But I also really like the marines. I feel like if I join the army I will always feel like I should have joined the marines, and vice versa. Please help me decide.

Marines... they may be cocky but when it comes to combat they definitely back it up. Army isn't a bad choice either, you will probably rank quicker and their Infantrymen are no joke either. The reason I like the Marines is because they are made to think they are the best whether they are or not so no matter how outnumbered or grim a situation gets they never question themselves or back down and it often works out very well for them and is why the Marines have lost VERY few battles in there 220 year history, talking like one or two battles. Look up battles lost by Marines and you will see what I mean, also the only battle in history when Marine casualties outnumbered enemy casualties was on Iwo Jima, but not by much.

I love the marines and I have major respect for all branches. Normally I would recommend the marines, but if I was a family man I would've joined the army or Air Force.

Go marines. The marines currently are not taking prior service. If you serve in a different branch you can not join. Marines is harder and more demanding than the army so if you're not willing to make such a commitment then go to the army. If you do choose the marines you can always join the army later down the road.

Before I answer, do not listen to any ra-ra bullshit from anyone who says the Marines are the toughest branch. There is no toughest branch. There is no "best" branch and the people who say that crap lack a fundamental understanding of the military and why we have different branches.
When making your decision, you need to consider the fundamental differences between the branches.
Marines were created to spearhead amphibious invasions like the island hoping in world war 2. They are taught to believe they are the baddest mother ******* in the world, which explains why some of them have such an annoying attitude - but they were created to be comfortable and happy with very little support in the shittest places on earth. So it's not like their pride is undeserved. I faced this same decision recently and to be honest with you - I'm joining the army specifically because I can't stand the Marine Corps attitude. They all talk about how the army sucks all the time. It's annoying as hell.
The army is the biggest force. They specialize in long term, large scale military operations - like conquering europe while the Marines lead the charge in the pacific. Each branch provides a valuable service and they are both due plenty of respect. The army will do best with logistics - resources, services, promotions, etc. The Marines have unbeatable camraderie - but like I said before that's a double edged sword. Talk to current and former service members. Talk to recruiters on both sides. Research, research, and research some more.
One final note - Army Infantry and Marine Infantry are both deadly and proficient. Don't let anyone tell you either one is specifically "better" - its an apples and oranges situation.
Good luck with your decision.

Not an expert on this stuff, but a marine once said that when you join the army, your a soldier from day 1, with no training. But when you join the marines, you have to earn your title and its much more honorable. Don't know if that means anything to you, but thats all i got/
