homemade ebike eROCKIT?

ok now when you think of ebike you think of bicycle with electric motor right? ok so what I want to know is, is it possible to make a bike have the pedals powering a motor and the energy from that motor will go directly to another motor which powers the wheels with some sort of gearing in between. would this work? I saw a bike called the eROCKIT and thats what I am refering to but that has batterys and costs $44,000 and I dont want to spend that much. if this isnt possible then is there a bike similar to the eROCKIT that the faster you pedal the faster the bike goes but uses electric motors instead of pedal power?
