There are conspiracy theorists in all political parties. Studies show belief in conspiracy theories are associated with feelings of powerlessness, uncertainty and general lack of control.

I'm not sure 9/11 conspiracy theorists are conservatives, and all of the 'chemtrail' believers I know are extremely liberal.
