Is life more fast-paced then 20-30 years ago or more?

Have societal attitudes changed in the area of work, social lives, earning money? Is it harder to make a living in this highly competitive world we live in?

Back then children generally built castles in the sand.

Now, they do the same in their computer.

    you guess. . .

For the decent hard-working people in our society everything is more fast-paced than it was a few decades ago but for the lazy bums not prepared to get out of bed in a morning (and do anything decent with their lives and to help humanity) nothing much has changed. They still think they deserve all that life has to offer and they want it on a plate - all earned by someone else who struggles to cope in this fast-paced world.

some things are faster paced and some not: for example 30 years ago a gas attendant pumped your gas making it some what slower to get a lot people gas, now you do a lot things your self and sometimes you do not even need a cashier just put your credit card in the gas pump fuel and go.

at 30 years ago a cashier might hand punch in your products at the grocery store now it is just scan and go less wait time in most cases. there is less stress on Friday payday because of direct deposit so you don't have to leave work in a rush at lunch to cash a check it is already there.

I think the work place has changed too and people are using or abusing credit than 30 years ago.

    Alex,

The world is more fast-paced. With the advent of neat instant communications...cell phones and tablets and such. It is harder to make a living now for most. 60 years ago, one could walk into almost any business or plant and get a job on the spot and make a fair living.

Of course things are at a faster pace now than 30 years ago. Technology has given us instant everything. We get instant food at fast food places and we get instant messages and so on. Now when young people have to wait 5 minutes for something they are having a fit. They want everything in seconds.

I think back then less people were working for the money and family time was more important. Now someone else is raising their kids while they work 80 hours a week to make the money to buy that house and car they want. People made less money but you got more for your money and people were happier about that. Gas was like 70 cents a gallon and food was cheap. Life was decent.

Now it's like you have to bust your butt to work so you have money IF you can retire.

The cities never really change, they're always fast paced.

There are rural areas that have experienced rapid growth and sometimes employment doesn't

    grow with it.
