Algebra II help me please?

1.) A plane intersects only one nappe of a doubled-napped cone. It is neither perpendicular to the cone's axis nor parallel to it's generating line. Which conic section is formed?

a) point

b) circle

c) ellipse

d) parabola

I chose C . am I right or wrong??

    Let's see:

    1) Perpendicular to axis is a circle - NO

    2) Parallel to axis is hyperbola - NO

    3) Parallel to the cone is a parabola - NO

    4) Any other is an ellipse Eureka, I think you got it right!

    Oh, if it cuts the cone: a point is a degenerate ellipse and a line (pair) is a degenerate hyperbola
