Do adults need role models?
It is thought that children need positive role models as part of their development and a source of inspiration and influence. But I was wondering if this is of any benefit to adults for whom intelligence and independence defines their age.
What do psychologist think? Should adults have role-models, or do they take up that role?

it depends on the adult ---wisdom does not come with age, sometimes age arrives without wisdom,
perhaps, mentors is a better choice of words...... mentors fulfill the role of role model plus provide guidance etc

it relies upon on the person ---awareness does no longer incorporate age, now and back age arrives without awareness, perchance, mentors is a extra effective selection of words...... mentors fulfill the situation of place kind plus furnish preparation etc
