How is abortion evil? You've obviously never been in a situation were abortion might be a possibility so you have no right to judge any women that decides to abort her baby. Aborting a baby is already a hard enough decision to make and I don't think they need to hear your opinion about it, especially if you don't know the person. You don't know why they want an abortion. Anything could have happened to them.

I don't think if you got raped and then pregnant with your rapists child that you'd want to keep it and some people just get pregnant too young. Wouldn't it be better for a teenager to abort their child, get a good education, meet someone and then have a child with them? Instead of them keeping the baby and giving it up for adoption or resenting the child because it prevented them from having a proper education? (I am aware that not every teenage pregnancy goes bad and I mean no disrespect to anyone who has had a teenage pregnancy)

If abortion was illegal there would be a rise in back-street abortion which can be very dangerous and there is a serious risk of death. Also, many women can have problems and get seriously ill when pregnant, if this happens the mother is usually advised to abort her baby as there is a serious risk she could die. At the end of day, it's the MOTHERS decision if she wants to abort HER baby. no one else's. If you choose to keep your baby, that's FINE. If someone else chooses to abort there baby, that's FINE. Get over it, it's 2013, the mother has a right to decide what happens to HER baby and HER body. Not you.

If people are going to do it anyway, society has the absolute responsibility to de-stigmatize it, and to encourage responsible practice. For example:

People can Not be expected to refrain from having abortions. They will have them in back-alleys anyway. Therefore the government should provide free on-demand abortions.

People can Not be expected to keep from shooting up. They'll just do it in a back alley with AIDS-infected needles. Therefore, the government must provide free heroin, needles, and a safe place to use it.

A leading cause of death for elderly males is suicide, but the use of small caliber weapons prolongs pain and suffering. The government needs to provide 1911's with one clip of 45 ACP and a safe place to use them. Then they can clean them off and give them to whoever's next.

People cannot be expected to curb their sexual urges. Therefore, the government must provide male and female sex workers...or barnyard animals...or for Julia, a snake...and safe places to use them.

Certain laws are bound to fail. Prohibition of alcohol failed miserably. Not every law is like this, of course. It depends on how strongly people want a thing. When you want an abortion, you will do just about anything to get it, even risk your life. Likewise, people who want to drink will go to great lengths to do so, they'll fight and scheme and work just for the promise of a little booze. Beating children isn't like this. People do it because they think they can get away with it, not because they are desperate for it and can't bear the thought of what their life would be without it.

Okay, you want a logical, intelligent response? Here you go. You will very rarely find an instance where beating a child will save the mother's life. Some women who become pregnant develop health problems to the ppint that giving birth would literally kill them.
