Can my parents stop me from traveling abroad?
When I was 15 I was an Exchange Student in a small Asian country. When I returned, at 16, I purchased airfare with money I earned at my job to return (With my parents OK). I am now 17 and my parents are threatening to 'cancel my trip'. They know I have plans to attend two weddings, go to my prom, volunteer, go on 4 trips, and not to mention work as an intern with the UN, however they are still holding this over my head, even though everything from the tickets itself to visa fees have been fully funded by myself. Since the threats have begun, I have my passport hidden in my floor boards, but the problem is, my mom used her credit card to pay for the ticket, and I simply transferred the sum to her account after it was paid. Can she still cancel the ticket? And if she does, she can't legally keep the money, right? Am I right to believe that if I fully fund my trip that she shouldn't dictate whether I go or not (especially when she already agreed to it)?

Why are your parents now objecting to your trip? This is the key you need to find out. Are you not doing your homework, not helping with chores around the house, you need that money for college, or what? Yes, tickets were charged on mom's card, and mom can cancel them. You are a minor child, and if they refuse to allow you to go, you have nothing to say about it. Find out what the real problem is, handle it. Stop acting like a self-centered child. You are nearly grown, and need to do a much better job of handling family relationships & your responsibilities to your family, preparing for college, developing negotiating skills, etc. You need to learn all this fast!

legally you have to do as your parents say until you turn 18.
After you turn 18 you can do as you wish. But even then most people depend on their parents long after turning 18 so as a practical matter you may want maintain a good relationship.

If you're a minor, you can't travel abroad without your parents' consent.
