It's hard to say without knowing the year of you vehicle.

With modern cars there is nothing to adjust in a tune up as the engine management computer does all the adjustments while you drive. It's really is just a matter of replacing any of the parts that have worn beyond their useful specifications.

If you took it to a qualified mechanical technician he/she would have ran their scan tool on you vehicle and diagnosed anything that was causing a problem.

Source(s): 11 years in the Auto Wrecking/Salvage industry. And 30 years tinkering before that.

nicely I had a 1990 Tacoma 4 wheel force which had the 22R engine which produced 126 H.P. and 178 lbs of torque and that i used and abused it for 4 years as a panorama settlement er. Now the 4Cyl makes 176 HP and 6Cyl250 H.P. that's overkill i think of by way of fact the torque is a hundred ninety for 4 and 235 for 6cyl. no longer too a lot once you think approximately the upward thrust in weight. additionally a lot greater constructive gas and value. I used it too pull 15 backyard dirt autos that have been given caught in dirt with my 22r engine.

That all depends on what you and the dealership agreed upon concerning work to be done and cost of said work. Or is there a sign that says "basic tune-up" with a price.

You did go over all this before they started working on your car. If not now you bear the fruits of not doing that. Hope it didn't cost a lot.
