What can I take to make me sleep?
Yesterday I left for Harrisburg PA at 5pm, coming from the central part of WV. So it was a long drive. I had some quick business to do up there. I drove back last night also & I got home at 4:30am & went to sleep at about 5am. Since I was so tired, I slept until the afternoon. Now I know I'll be awake late again tonight & I'll want to sleep late tomorrow. I can't do this, I need a regular sleep schedule for my lifestyle. What can I do or what over the counter medication can I take tonight to make me sleep? Thanks.

Sleeping pills can give you bad side effects such as headaches and drowsiness during the day so you are better off without them.
To sleep better just relax and switch off, if you can.
If you are having trouble switching off at bedtime some light exercise (for example, push ups or sit ups) at bedtime often helps you to relax, unwind and switch off and that often improves your sleep. Strenuous exercise at bedtime is likely to ruin your sleep.
Common OTC sleep aids include Chamomile tea, 5-HTP, Melatonin and Valerian Root.
Sleep enhancing foods include warm milk, turkey, cherries, oatmeal, bananas, wine and others as in http://au.search.yahoo.com/search?p=%22sleep+enhan...

OTC Benedryl (diphanhydramine) works well. It comes in 25mg capsules or tabs; you can take 2. (50mg) It is the active ingredient in many "sleep aids", but is generally cheaper.
