Who on this board receives compensation directly or indirectly from climate research funding of any kind?

-----------------------

I know we have at least a couple of people that post here regularly that claim to be climate scientists, or to be involved in climate related work. If they choose to answer this question, one would think they would answer in the affirmative.

I'd like to establish who is defending their job or other personal interest by posting here.

I'm NOT asking for details like --- how much you make or anything like that.

Also, if you are being paid by the skeptical side, I'd also appreciate your honesty by stating so.

Just for the record, I receive no such compensation and never have.

-----------------------

Update:

-----------------------

Tom A - Why not? Al Gore gets paid for being an idiot, why not me? Your boy Peter Gleick is a self-admitted thief and liar, he gets paid. http://heartland.org/press-releases/2012/02/20/sta...

-----------------------

Update 2:

-----------------------

Jerry - That's cool, if they need any help over there drop me a line.

I don't, although several years ago while I was in school I received money from the state of California for research on energy related issues and from a private philanthropic organization. My income these days is derived from multiple sources--I do work on meteorology in the private sector, as well as work for a company that creates new analytical instruments for the mining sector.

Before returning to school for the Ph.D. I worked for a private company that received federal funds to develop an advanced landmine detector, for several other private companies where I designed electrical components for telecommunications, and another that produced discrete event simulation software.

If anything, I'd say that going into climate research has cost me about $400,000, but that was my choice.

Proponents could in simple terms acquire as lots investment as combatants of the belief. There are nevertheless valid scientists that have working theories and fashions than recommend that the warming of the previous due twentieth century grow to be frequently using a organic cycle, and that organic cycle could additionally reason destiny cooling. If it is authentic that's interior the US governments pastime to comprehend the reality approximately any substitute climate eventualities that could reason hardships for US and that is voters. the present debate approximately AGW is amazingly such as the Geocentric theory embraced via Aristotle and Ptolemy, they had working theories and fashions that would desire to assume the motions of the planets, which grow to be embraced via a consensus. The Heliocentric theory embraced via Copernicus besides the undeniable fact that grow to be no longer common between the consensus, and till Galileo used a telescope to instruct the heliocentric theory, the two Heliocentric and Geocentric theories have been in actuality in simple terms theories. Public communique with reference to the Heliocentric theory would desire to value you your existence, in those days.

I work for a university, so it's possible some tiny fraction of my income comes from money that started out as a grant to study climate. But since I work in the chemistry department as a student worker (hence the "chem flunky" name), I doubt my income would change at all if somehow AGW was proven false and/or all research into climate stopped.

I used to, but no longer do. They pay sucks. When I left a research lab to work in the private sector, my salary doubled and my work hours decreased by 1/3.

You must be at the bottom of the information pile because you missed the memo about Exxon-Mobile acknowledging that global warming is real. Of course, it's only a partial truth on their part, but they at least know when a lie is just too stupid to be believable.

Last June, Exxon-Mobil CEO Rex Tillerson told the Council on Foreign Relations:

"So I'm not disputing that increasing CO2 emissions in the atmosphere is going to have an impact. It'll have a warming impact. The -- how large it is is what is very hard for anyone to predict. And depending on how large it is, then projects how dire the consequences are."

    >>Tom A - Why not? Al Gore gets paid for being an idiot, why not me? <<

Let's see: one is a former US Senator and Vice President - and the other is a scientifically illiterate and willfully ignorant liar.

Yeah - tough call on who is the idiot.

I'm sure that if I wanted to get rich, I would at least stand a chance on your best that I could hope for from the "warmer" side would be a Jay-Oh-Bee. Most of the money is going to data acquisition (weather stations and satellites) and teams of technicians. Real science costs real money. But if I had James Hansen' s or Michael Mann's repitation, I would just have to switch to your side and become an instant billionaire.

Prof Wegman does and judging by how he lies about AGW and how many science deniers here lie about it, he simply must have at least one YA profile:
