Need Icelandic circus photo caption translated to English?

I am researching the Wallenda Circus family. There is a photo and description of Engelbert Wallenda in the top left hand side of this page:

http://timarit.is/view_page_init.jsp?pag%E2%80%A6

From the google translation, I understand that the performer is a man with strong nerves, who send shivers down the spine of his watchers. In this photo, he is performing on a wire 20 meters above a zoo in Berlin.

Can someone give me a clearer idea of the REST OF THE DESCRIPTION? How does it describe his act? Is he "spinning" around the wire while attached to the "ball"? Is someone in the ball?

The other question I have is WHEN WAS THE PHOTO TAKEN?

The Engelbert I am researching would have been almost 75 yrs old when this was published in 1953. The photo looks older than that. Does the last part of the description indicate that this is a vintage photo from years ago? Or can you tell from the type of magazine it is in if it might be likely to contain photos of old circus acts.

Sterkar taugar... Engelbert Wallender heitir maður sem að undanförnu hefur látið Berlínarbúum renna kallt vatn milli skinns og hörunds. Í nálægt 20 metra hæð yfir umhverfinu í dýragarðinum í Berlín leikur hann ýmsar listir í trapez sem festur er við málmhnött sem hringsnýst í ákafa.

    Translartion:

Nerves off steel... Lately, a man by the name of Engelbert Wallenda has been scaring the people of Berlin. He has been doing death-defying stunts in a trapez fastened to a metal ball spinning around a wire strung almost 20 meters over the Berlin zoo.

The text indicates that this is a new picture so Egelbert would have been in his seventees, but from what I have read that would not be out of character for the Wallenda family.
