I am researching the Wallenda Circus family. There is a photo and description of Engelbert Wallenda in the top left hand side of this page:

From the google translation, I understand that the performer is a man with strong nerves, who send shivers down the spine of his watchers. In this photo, he is performing on a wire 20 meters above a zoo in Berlin.

Can someone give me a clearer idea of the REST OF THE DESCRIPTION? How does it describe his act? Is he "spinning" around the wire while attached to the "ball"? Is someone in the ball?

The other question I have is WHEN WAS THE PHOTO TAKEN?

The Engelbert I am researching would have been almost 75 yrs old when this was published in 1953. The photo looks older than that. Does the last part of the description indicate that this is a vintage photo from years ago? Or can you tell from the type of magazine it is in if it might be likely to contain photos of old circus acts.

I want to enter cemetery interments for the St. Peter's Episcopal Church Cemetery (Cheshire, CT) on findagrave.com. The only list I can find is a poor quality PDF and my software can't convert it correctly. Does anyone have a more powerful program, or the time to type the list up for me? It is a very old and historic cemetery but only a small portion of the graves have been entered, so many people would benefit from this project.

Help. I want to see a sample of Danny Duzit sponges (A stainless steel scrubber.) I can pay through PayPal for someone to send me one.

My customers are used to a very soft, fine scrubber, so I don't dare order 72 of them from the company without seeing one.

I'm not an Amway dealer, and don't wish to be one. But I have customers saying they used to get Scrub Buds from someone who moved away, and I can't get them for the price they were paying.

I can't get the brand of stainless steel scrubbers that I really like anymore. They were called "Like New." They were made of very thin stainless steel wire curled into a spiral, then wadded up into a ball. I use them on my dishes and silverware, so I want one that is not very abrasive.

CHORE BOY ones are WAY too coarse.

SCOTCH-BRITE is a little better, but still not what I'm looking for.

I saw a #300 Kurly Kate that was too rough, too.

I found so many for sale online, but I can't tell from the picture how fine the wire is. Nobody wants to send me a sample for less that $12 shipping.

Did Floyd write the words, or is it a traditional song?

Are there other words/versions?

Any dates, copyright information?

This song was included in a songbook I compiled and printed in 2008, and I am searching again for information before I reprint it.

I am researching a children's song called "My Pigeon House." The words vary, but this is the general idea:

My pigeon house I open wide

And I set all my pigeons free

They fly away o'er every stoop

And they perch in the highest tree

And when they return from their merry, merry flight

The tune resembles the German (Swabian) folk song "Muss Ich Denn"

At what point did the "Pigeon House" words come into being? Was it in Germany? Did it then spread in the German language through Europe before coming to the US, where it was translated into English.

Or were the "Pigeon House" words first written in English, or possibly Spanish?

I am especially curious whether it was passed down through Mennonite/Amish/Pennsylvania Dutch groups. (Yes, I know they generally wouldn't sing a non-religious song.) But I have seen numerous posts saying the song was passed down to them by a German ancestor who lived in Prussia, and others who have Pennsylvania Dutch background. All these groups were associated with northern Germany way back, but since only the Mennonites were in Prussia it can't have been from there.

As an added twist, I found a German version of "My Pigeon House", but the tune is different!!

The Kelly Family's version of "Muss Ich Denn" includes a verse sung in Spanish, which is given below. Lower down are three German traditional verses.

Are the Spanish words similar to any of the German verses, or is this a part they made up entirely?
