To press charges against a 5th grade bully?

I have 2 11 yr olds who attend the same grade school and have been being bullied by the same kid all yr more my daughter then my son. Although with my son it has been physical 2xs now. The first time the kid hit him in the face with a square eraser causing my son a black eye.

yesterday he was hitting my son in the side of the head with something and my son picked it up and gave it to the teacher well at the end of the day the kid walked up to him acted like his friend then punched my son in his nose then fled the building. My son did not do anything actually walked away (super proud of him) his nose bleed and we ended up bringing him to drs to make sure his nose was not broken. Upon learning this my son also informed ne that the kid had slapped his sister on the bus which she reported to the principle (i was not informed by the school)

should we press charges on the bully if the school hasn't made a police report? the kid did get suspended for 2 days but i think a whole yr of bullying should be stopped. Just not sure if charges should be pressed.

sorry so long and Tia.

I would talk to the parents if possible before it happens again. If it still keeps happening, then I would get the police involved and go to the superintendent of the school because the teachers and administrators obviously aren't doing their jobs.

I need to remind you he is just a kid, but the school should have found a solution before now. And, while you may be furious about your child being hurt, one needs to remember that bullies are often victims themselves of worse things like abuse in the home or psychiatric problems.

Have a conversation with the principal about what the solutions are going to be to stop this and if it is not enough step it up with the school system.

Figure out what you want to happen first - counseling, expulsion, etc. Then go to the principal/BOE with everything documented. Give them a day or two to come up with something. Once you go to the police (which is not a bad idea) I think the school cant do much - but you should call the local precinct and find out the procedure. Good luck. Definitely do something.

Bullies are, without a doubt, the bane of the social world of childhood. Alas, they're everywhere, and not always where you would expect.

Talk your school's principal and tell him/her that the bullying has gone on all year. Many schools have instituted anti-bully programs or should

Also, here's a whole list of things you can do to help you kid if they are being bullied http://www.familiesonlinemagazine.com/bully-bustin...

I'd get right in to the school and find out if they are going to do anything about it and when, and if not, call the police next time before the blood dries. I would not put up with it, that boy is danger in the making.

I would press charges. Your children have been physically assaulted tot he point that you had to take one of them to the doctor. This is pretty serious. Maybe it would shake things up a bit, scare the boy and maybe get the parents to deal with the situation. I would also send the parents and the school a copy of the doctor's bill.
