What is another word for a coat or jacket?

I am writing about old fashioned clothing and I need to know an older word for a coat of jacket.

Maybe, like a shall of a covering?

    Mac or Macintosh

    Reefer

    Wrap ( for women only and generic for all outer clothing that covers the shoulders)

    How about "mantle"?

    Technically a cape, but I'm pretty sure we could stretch the point :)
