I'd consider Rohit Sharma to be an appropriate captain for T-20 Format and Dravid for Tests and ODI's.

The young Rohit Sharma has more exposure to the T-20 format and many years to go on. Also, we notice that when captaincy was handed over to him, he's taken the responsibility and lead from the front. There have been significant improvements in his batting contributions to the team- He's the 6th highest run scorer in this IPL edition. I'm impressed with the way he sets the field and his bowling selection is satisfactory too.

Rahul Dravid comes with loads of experience which makes him apt for longer formats of the game. Just yesterday, we could see a reflection of his experience at the toss- his choice to bat was correct- he said that the Eden Gardens pitch was newly re-grassed which made it suitable for batting. On the contrary, rain had dampened the pitch somewhat. But Dravid measured both sides of the coin and also took into account history (he kept in mind that teams batting first have won more matches in Eden Gardens). His decision to bat first and his argument along with it was a portrayal of his experience. Rajasthan Royals did lose but there are a number of other reasons for that- even Rohit Sharma was looking to bat first.

Overall, for captain, I would choose Rahul Dravid, because of the great experience he possesses.

Rahul Dravid is a cricketer with a wealth of experience, he is said to be a wonderful individual who gets along with everyone and is respected by everyone who has something to do with cricket, be it the fans, current players from all over the world and officials at all levels of the cricketing world. He got this respect from his contributions not only to the Indian cricket team but to the game as a whole all over the world. You could walk the streets here in the Caribbean Islands and everyone knows who he is 'The Wall', Rahul Dravid. Now having these traits or characteristics and a love for the game of cricket and an attitude that made him so successful is the explanation to me why Rahul Dravid made a weaker looking outfit when compared to other teams in Rajasthan Royals (No doubt the likes of Brad Hodge and Shane Watson helped) the success they was in this edition of the IPL. Simply he is a very good captain.

Rohit Sharma, commentators keep praising his talent, to be honest when I see some of the shots he have played he is very talented. He is also a very good fielder and the way he carries himself he definitely has a good head on his shoulder about the game of cricket. Rohit's team is packed with stars who have experience that no other team (maybe only Chennai) can match. So when compared to Dravid his work may be easier as the leader, but you still have to execute. The thing is with Rohit though you see he is taking more responsibility to get runs how he is the captain, which is a good thing.

They are both talented, Dravid made his name already though.

Sort of comparing Akshay Kumar (Rowdy Rathore) & Vidyut Jamwal (Commando)! Dravid's in a different league shouldering arms to greats like Watson, Hodge, Faulkner but being a mentor & guide to Binny, Samson, Trivedi & Rahane. By no means is RR a power side in that they don't have an out & out smasher of runs like Pollard. Watson is not a player of a swashbuckling innings & isn't the man for every situation! Pollard on the contrary is! So Dravid's trying to get the best out a side which has been hit by a major image crisis after three players were sidelined for spot fixing! So Dravid has a big burden to carry but his nature & clean image go before him! On another note, Rohit Sharma is a convenience captain who's not put too much of a foot wrong since taking over the reins! When it became clear that neither Midget (SRT), Punter will play let alone be captain, Rohit Sharma was appointed. The reason why Rohit prevails is that he plays well when given the responsibility & Pollard's been a major force for their success

I think Rahul Dravid is best captains comparing with Rohit Sharma, because MI is a strong team in paper and field but RR is not very strong, there are few good player in his team. So RR play good cricket under Dravid captaincy and good use for his resources.
