Toshiba TV takes 1-8 hours to turn on!?

It gets sound, and the little green light is on, but takes a long time to get a picture. I am using Dish, and it has been doing this for a while. It's about 3 years old. It eventually does work, but i don't like waiting 8 hours to watch TV. How could i fix this? Or who should I call?

Honestly, the set has failed and will require repair by a qualified technician. While the set is repairable, the cost may exceed the replacement cost of the set. You did not mention the size of the set, so I use this "rule of thumb"...

If the set is 42" or larger, repair may be a good way to go provided the repair shop uses better than original parts. If the set is 32" or smaller, you will be ahead to replace the set given the drop in the price of new sets. You can recover some cost by selling it as a "fixer" on Craigslist.

Do keep in mind that pretty much all brands of television are having issues, which are due to cost cutting of the parts that go into them, which in turn has brought down the price of the sets.

This is not something you can fix yourself. It's too old to still be covered by the manufacturer warranty, so any repair won't be free. All you can do is either get it fixed at a local TV repair place, or call Toshiba to see if they'll fix it (if Toshiba will fix it at all, they probably will want you to ship it to them, and you'll have to pay for the shipping both ways).

It's probably cheaper to buy a new one than to get the old one fixed. I can easily estimate your needed repairs to be over 200 USD.

Get a new TV or call Toshiba. :)
