Enlighten Me On Navy Basic Training?!?!?
I have talked to my recruiter but want a trainees perspective on this: I just swore into the Navy 2 days ago and my shipping date is on June 18th. Im just so curious to what its like there. Would like someone who has experienced this training before to enlighten me on everything. Daily schedules, food, duration, what will i be doing? I am just so excited

About 10 days BEFORE you leave for Great Lakes start getting up at 4:30 in the morning and stay up, fully awake, until at least 10:00 in the evening. This will get your body used to the schedule you'll have the first couple weeks.
Summer weather at Great Lakes can be brutal.

Hello Chelsea,
You should have done more research before you even spoke with a recruiter.
Go here and read all about Navy Bootcamp (basic training).
It has all the necessary information that new sailors need.
Hope you can swim!
They throw you into the pool and you have to survive for a certain time in case you fall overboard while on ship until you can be rescued!

I've been in DEP since January and I ship to RTC in September! I have way to much time on my hands to research stuff. I am one of those people who does not like change and wants to know as much as I can so its not as much of a shock!
This site: Navydep.com is a god send!
this link http://www.navydep.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433 has a day by day account done by a female. It is from 09 but I am sure still pretty relevant!
Good Luck!

Btw, summer in Southern Wisconsin (Great Lakes is more of a S. WI than N. Illinois) will be hot and humid; you would be sweating like crazy.

I like the fact that you're excited. Most folks asking this question are more nervous. You're attitude will carry you through just fine.
