Why do some Christians refer to the bible as "the word of God"?

Posted a few minutes ago:

"Faith comes by hearing... And hearing comes by the Word of God, THE BIBLE."

Why do some Christians refer to the bible as "the word of God"?

Wasn't it compiled and edited in the fourth century by a committee that decided what to include, what to modify and what to leave out, a committee of men, who had free will, and who were not good? Were early versions of the bible without the story of Jesus and the adulterous woman "the word of God"? Was that story "the word of God" although it was only added later?

Isn't calling the bible that just an attempt to avoid questions about its origin?

And isn't it strange that most people who use this term refer to a bible that had several books removed from it after over a thousand years? Were they "the word of God" and stopped being that way? Or did all Christians mistakenly assume they were the "the word of God" for over a thousand years, even though they weren't?

Shouldn't they say "what I believe to be the word of God"?

When they claim to know it's "the word of God" despite having no evidence for that, isn't it, well, lying?

They say this because they have been lied to since they were small children.

You really can't hold this against someone.

Why do some Christians refer to the bible as "the word of God"? because it is the word of god Wasn't it compiled and edited in the fourth century by a committee that decided what to include, what to modify and what to leave out, a committee of men, who had free will, and who were not good? no it was not they modified nothing of the books considered wriiten and inspired by god the church had many books some were not inspired by god and of unknown origin the basic books the church had used that the apostles had written were included as was the old testament text Were early versions of the bible without the story of Jesus and the adulterous woman "the word of God"? Was that story "the word of God" although it was only added later? no and it was not added later Isn't calling the bible that just an attempt to avoid questions about its origin? no its stating the truth to those who do not now what their talking about And isn't it strange that most people who use this term refer to a bible that had several books removed from it after over a thousand years? no its not strange and no such thing happened Were they "the word of God" and stopped being that way? no0 they were not the word of god to begin with did all Christians mistakenly assume they were the "the word of God" for over a thousand years? the catholic church published all books together even the ones not inspired by god Shouldn't they say "what I believe to be the word of God"? no we know what the word of god is the holy spirit tells us When they claim to know it's "the word of God" despite having no evidence for that, isn't it, well, lying? we have evidence its the word of god you sir are lying

A false and sloppy premise. If you use a quote you need to identify your source. You fabricated a verse that does not appear anywhere in the bible in order to create a biased question.

The actual bible verse you corrupted is from the book of Romans, chapter 10, verse 17. Which does not say that the word is the bible. YOU added that. As most any adult wiil know the scriptures were written many years before the bible was compiled, and so it would impossible for any scripture in the bible to refer to the bible.

DOES GOD HAVE THE POWER TO SEE TO IT THAT IN 2013 CE THE KJV BIBLE

IS IN THE WORLD 402 YEARS AND WW1 WAS 99 YEARS AGO AS A WORLD

    [WW1 lasted 1260 days Rev.11:1-3; Rev.12:3,4,6,9-12,14; 3 1/2 years or 42 Months

    Rev.13:1-5,6-10]:

1Pet.1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible,

by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

1Pet.1:25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word

which by the gospel is preached unto you.

Heb.4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any

twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,

and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and

    intents of the heart.

Who is it that the word of God is more important to them than their own

    life? Rev.12:11;

Rev.6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the

souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony

which they held: 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long,

O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them

    that dwell on the earth?

6:11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said

unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their

fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were,

    should be fulfilled.

Rev.20:1-6, the heavenly with Christ Jesus at his second coming.

I posted a question referring to this yesterday... let me find it.

    ============

    Ah, here we go:

    THE WORD OF GOD

Point 1) If the Bible is the inspired word of God, it must be INFALLIBLE. If ONE THING is proved to be untrue, isn't the entire book useless?

Point 2) If the defense of finding a topic in the Bible untrue is "but, it was recorded by man, who is fallible", then isn't EVERYTHING in the Bible, which was 100% recorded by fallible man, subject to being untrue?

Point 3) If the ONLY other option is to lie, and state "nothing in the Bible has ever been disproved", does that simply tells us that the followers of the faith will resort to anything, even lying, to justify their position?

    ============

So, to directly answer your question -

"People claim the Bible is the Word of God either because they are ignorant, or liars."

  • Being deceived.

God's old testament is the law of Moses, not the biblical index of Genesis-Malachi. (God's o.t. is a subset of Genesis-Malachi). God's o.t. was done away when Christ died on cross; so if the law of Moses 'rule' applies today; it would be restated Matthew-Revelation THE most glaring difference; Genesis. Are the rules of Genesis restated Matthew-Revelation? Remember; one CAN NOT have teh law of Moses before Moses was born!!!

Early in Christian history the majority of unbelievers, humanists, secularists, idol-worshipers, and other ungodly people who hated God and Christians and persecuted them to no end (just like today-nothing's changed) came together to ask the question: What is "Bible" and what is not? For what will "you" die for? Do we die for the writings of Plato? Do we die for the writings of Aristotle? Do we die for the writings of Carl Sagan, etc?

The Church fathers of the time had four criteria as to what was true apostolic writings and what was not.

From this came the gathering of scrolls and the closing of the Christian canon.

    'Nuff said.

There are three categories of the Word of God:

    1. The Written (scriptures)

    2. The Spoken

    3. The Living (Jesus Christ)

Because it is the inspired Word of Jehovah God as revealed to man.

Technically, the Bible never refers itself as the "word of God", it is the "written" or "inspired" word of God. Jesus himself is personally the "word of God".
