You can live in the barracks or get housing if married typically. It can depend on rank and availability on the base. There's waiting list etc. If you don't live on base you get a BAH if you live off post (basic housing allowance). The amount of the allowance varies by region. Probably on average close to $1,000...you get more if you are married, and additional if you have kids. There's a BAS (basic allowance for sustenance) that applies more when you are married with kids than does the BAH.
