What would be a funny/interesting way to fill the blanks for this: A watched _______ never _______?

I'm working on a joke that is about generalizing the "A watched pot never boils" proverb to other things

And I would be impressed if someone came up with a good idea or something that would be ridiculous if an event didn't happen when someone was watching something
