Is there going to be a Kingdom Hearts 3?

Yes there will be, and it has been confirmed, please read on, sorry that it is long.

The following are not rumors, Tetsuya Nomura,writer of the kh story and gameplay designer, has mentioned these facts throughout interviews from famitsu gaming magazine among others.

Kingdom Hearts III was talked about during and interview with Tetsuya Nomura.

Quoting Nomura he says “I also feel that it’s about time that Kingdom Hearts should go back to being on a console.”

-Why isn't it here yet?-

They claim that the team that develops kingdom hearts is currently busy with other projects, this would be Final Fantasy Versus 13(yes it's still in development since they now changed it to be for the ps4 and also will likely have a title change,it depends on the E3 announcement), and their new engine "Luminous engine", a recent announcement confirmed that Final Fantasy Versus 13(along with other games originally planed for ps3) is(are) to be released for the ps4. It is said that the ps4 will be released during the holidays this year unless there are delays or predicaments.

But since we know that of the ps4 we can tell that we are near getting Kingdom Hearts III to be in full development for the ps4. The reason we got DDD for 3ds and other hand held tittles is because they requiere a lot less work, in other words they patch up all the loop holes in Kingdom Hearts story,preparing the scenario for KH3 without having to have the full development team together. if they didn't do this then we'd have to wait a hell long time for the story to patched up and this would result in delaying Kingdom hearts III a couple of more years, yes, years o__O.

*Kingdom Hearts III is yet to be in full development but Tetsuya affirms "We already have the base of the story and it will be the end of the Xehanort Saga, please wait a little longer".

*Nomura has further stated that Kingdom Hearts III is not the last game in the Kingdom Hearts saga, and sources also tell us that Sora will continue to fight the darkness after Kingdom Hearts III.

I can provide you the links that affirm the answer, however I can't find the interview videos sadly. When they first came out I was able to watch them, they had an english translator, but apparently they have been removed. Well, Anyways I hope this helps answer your question, I know we're all(or nearly all of us)tired of waiting but oh well it'll get here :D

*Side note* Square Enix has been experiencing a huge financial lose, which is why they are also taking so long with their unfinished projects,yes they have been able to release handhelds and ff games but is because they do not require too much of a big budget. The unfinished projects are running under the new luminous engine i mentioned, which has not been finished because they need more recourses to perfect the engine.They apologized for the wait and explained their situation recently on an interview as well.

Announcement? It's a bit slight likely to be announced after 2.5(or however they decide to call the next remaster) is released. It would only make sense to do do after all that recap right? Also,they are to announce a new FF game at this year's E3 or so they say. They have been recovering their lose already so we can expect something soon or soonish. But it's more likely to be hinted or announced after the next kh hd remaster.

*side note about pixar, marvel and star wars: While it is possible that we might get worlds related to them, the one rumored the most is star wars given that Tetsuya loves star wars and has admitted to have inspired Xehanort's weapons on the lightsaber(a lil obvious XD). Now this would be epic but I guess we'll wait and see :)

Kingdom Hearts a million & 2 have been on the PS2, so with the help of the time KH3 comes out, the PS2 will tremendously plenty be out of company, so this is achieveable that it will bypass to the PS3. 2. tremendously plenty all of SquareEnix's precise franchises (FF, Dragon Quest, Parasite Eve, Kingdom Hearts) have been on a Sony console, so why not the PS3. 3. Disney is a robust supporter of Blu-ray, so if KH3 will help to sell PS3, why not have the sport on the PS3. 4. the different 2 consoles are somewhat susceptible. The Wii would not have the intense tech pics like the PS3. The 360 is a bomb (not the bomb) in Japan. 5. maximum persons think of the PS3 will %. up quite a few steam this twelve months, and because Kingdom Hearts 3 isn't envisioned back out till 2009/2010, and with the help of that element, the PS3 ought to o.k. be in first place. To the winner is going the spoils.

They've been planning to make it for a while now.

They are taking so long because they dont want to keep re using the same worlds.

There was rumors thy might do the incredibles, but i dont see that happening because thats pixar and they've never done pixar before.

But now that disney owns marvel and star wars. It would be awesome if those were worlds!!!

With the new playstation & Xbox coming out later this year, i think they might announce something soon
