What do you think of the twin names Margaret and Dorothy?

Nicknamed Maisie and Dot

Update:

They're "grandma" names because they're after our grandmothers.

I like them. They will age well, and their nicknames will be cute for when they're younger.

Most people on here won't find the beauty in those names, simply because they like the new trendy, made-up names in an attempt to be unique.

They're quite old names, and quite dated. Did your grandmothers have nicknames (are they Maisie and Dot)?

Margaret has dimunitives like Molly, Mereta, May, Megan, Mariota.

Dorothy is pretty- how about Dorothea? Maybe it would be better to name them after your grandmothers but also create a slight distinction from them...They are named for their grandmothers, but you also separate them as people through their names. So Dorothea (for example) is named for Dorothy but you are showing her to be a separate person completely, and it means that you can think of Dorothy and think of one of your grandmothers, and think of Dorothea and think of your daughter.

Otherwise, Dot is a cute nickname, but maybe Thea would be an adult alternative. She can be Dot to you, but at school or at work or whatever, the nickname can be more serious. Dot is an adorable nickname. Maisie is a lovely nickname for Margaret.

Very old fashioned, but could work. I prefer Maisie to Dot though. Dont really like Dot as a name.

Don't like the nicknames, but the names are wonderful.

Margaret is a perfect name. It's girlie without sparkling of femininity,it's old, historical and a true classic name.I like Maggie better and Margaret itself even more.I've always loved it.Dorothy, although it has never been a major favorite name of mine,is lovely with Margaret. It's as beautiful as her twin's name and they match perfectly. Don't worry, these twin names have class and grace.(Yes,on Yahoo Answers you must defend every non-trendy name).

I adore Margaret and Dorothy. They are both classics that age well. I cannot stand Maisie and Dot as nicknames, though.

The nicknames are ok but Margaret and Dorothy sound like a pair of elderly people, sorry.

I like both names, but it feels like you're going for the excessive grandma names, to try and prove a point for "classical" names or some shizz like that. Though they do match well.
