RHH: What up with that new Quasimoto...?

Soooo RHH, what's good...it's been a minute....

So um yeah Quasimoto/Lord Quas/Madlib/etc. has a new project called "Yessir Whatever" that apparently is due out in a few weeks but has been heavily leaked....like I know dudes who've been spinning this in April....

...but uhm yeah I only gave it a play a few days ago but I've been going back to it... I was kinda cheesed that some of the songs are old but yo dun it's Quas.... Production for me was on point as expected from Madlib...lyrics were more of the same for me too even though Madlib himself seemed to be stretching over the mic a little more than he should...I'm not hatin tho...

Overall I'd give it a solid 3.5/5 which might improve with age...

Soooo, what you all make of it? Rate....Review....Discuss etc.

Update:

Yo Wirf, whatup man...long time

Yeah for real it's pretty average compared to The Unseen....like The Unseen is 5/5 for me too so this is definitely lacking....the beats are dope but they're a lot less simplistic and not as trippy or as deep....as I said the lyrics aren't as strong either...it does have some gems though like the one's I posted, especially "Planned Attack" which wouldn't look out of place in his other sh*t but it is a rather weak effort from Madlib....some are saying that dude is trolling us and is going to release the proper version on the release day which I would likey a lot but this does sound like the real deal because the old tracks sound a lot crisper and smoother... It's still a nice album for 2013 because I haven't heard much more than a handful of impressive joints this year...but I aint been looking to deep either....

Update 2:

@Esco: Yeah dun I remember you too lol...good to see some people still frequent this place...good looks on the album...I agree

I haven't taken the time to listen to it all yet, the ones you put up weren't bad. Quasimoto is still a kind of annoying alter-ego to me. It's bearable because of the production. I've become more and more tolerable of unorthodox sh*t like that over the years though, so it's no biggie, still just saying though... (I'd probably enjoy an instrumental version of Quasi stuff more)... The "Planned Attack" song sounded pretty good, I thought it had some of the flavor The Unseen had. I think the Jeru sample was dope. You're right though on the beats not being as complex or as trippy - these are just my first impressions though based off two or three songs though.

I personally wouldn't give The Unseen a 5/5 rating though, the lyrics are too mediocre to be given a perfect rating. That's just my opinion though.

Oh hey. I remember you. You remember me? Probably not but yeah. I listened to the new Quasimoto and it's definitely not on par with Unseen & Lord Quas but it's still a nice listen. The production just isn't as crazy and put together as well as Unseen & Lord Quas but I consider those 2 albums top notch when it comes to production. Madlib also didn't deliver as well as he did before compared to past Quasi efforts. 7.5/10. I'd still rec it to anyone doe.

  • Hi

Yeah I still haven't heard it, I'm protesting Madlib right now because he reused songs but I'll hear it eventually. To you, how does it compare to the Unseen? I doubt it'll touch that for me since Unseen is top 5 imo but I still have high expectations for when I do listen.

Edit: After listening once I wasn't impressed. He was using old rhymes and nothing popped out at me like the Unseen, it was an alright listen but didn't have the cool schizo-stoner thing going on which I miss.
