My fellow prisoners : Would you rather have Assad rule Syria or the rebels ? Why ?

Update:

@Smudge: Civilians can't rule a country.

Update 2:

@maryjane: Don't you think that if our gvmnt supports rebels then at least they know with whom they are dealing with ? If they were our enemies would we support them ?

    I say Assad. At least we know what he's all about. With the rebels we could end up with god only knows what.

    I'm no fan of Assad, but I would rather see him remain in power than take a chance on trusting the rebels. Assad pretty much kept to himself and didn't stir up too much trouble. I doubt the rebels will be so accommodating. I could be wrong, but look at what happened in Libya. Thousands of heavy weapons including anti-aircraft rockets up and disappeared into the desert. If the rebels win in Syria, with the arsenal of both conventional and chemical weapons Assad has. Imagine how much of it will just up and disappear in the back of pickup trucks. How much will wind up in the hands of people who shouldn't have them?
